Focus: APIs, AI, Integrations & Customer Experience

Salary: £30,000+

Fully Remote

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for someone who loves APIs, AI, vibe coding and, most importantly, people.

As our API Advocate, you’ll be the friendly, enthusiastic face of our APIs, helping customers and third-party engineers build brilliant things with our technology.

You’ll work at the intersection of our customers, external integration partners and internal engineering teams, making sure our APIs are easy to understand, easy to integrate and genuinely enjoyable to work with.

This isn’t a traditional customer support role, nor is it a conventional software engineering position. We’re looking for someone who gets excited about technology, loves experimenting with new tools and gets real satisfaction from helping other people succeed.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Champion our APIs

  • Become an enthusiastic advocate for our APIs and the possibilities they unlock.

  • Help customers and third-party engineers understand what they can build with our technology.

  • Demonstrate integrations, share examples and make complex technical concepts accessible.

  • Explore how AI-assisted development can make integrating with our APIs dramatically easier.

Connect customers and engineering

  • Speak directly with customers and integration partners to understand their challenges, ideas and frustrations.

  • Work closely with our internal engineering teams to investigate and resolve integration problems.

  • Translate customer feedback into actionable improvements for our APIs.

  • Identify gaps between what our APIs offer and what customers actually need.

  • Represent the customer’s perspective in technical discussions and help engineering teams understand real-world integration challenges.

Make integrations easier

  • Help customers get from their first API call to a working integration.

  • Create practical examples, tutorials, documentation and integration guides.

  • Use AI coding tools to prototype integrations, investigate problems and demonstrate solutions.

  • Proactively identify common points of friction and work to eliminate them.

  • Improve the overall experience of discovering, understanding and using our APIs.

Explore and experiment 🚀

  • Stay curious about AI, LLMs, coding agents, APIs and emerging engineering tools.

  • Experiment with vibe coding and AI-assisted development workflows.

  • Find creative ways to make our APIs accessible to people with different levels of technical experience.

  • Share discoveries, experiments and ideas with customers and colleagues.

  • Help shape how AI changes the way customers interact with our technology.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

You’re a people person

You genuinely enjoy talking to customers, meeting people, understanding their problems and helping them succeed. You’re approachable, enthusiastic, patient and a great communicator.

You’re just as comfortable having a friendly conversation with a customer as you are discussing a technical problem with an engineer.

You’re technically curious

You understand how APIs work and are comfortable with concepts like REST, JSON, HTTP, authentication and software integrations.

You enjoy experimenting with technology and figuring out how things work.

You don't need to be a traditional software engineer, but you should have hands-on experience working with APIs and integrations, understand how to troubleshoot technical issues, and be confident using AI-assisted coding tools to explore, build and test practical solutions.

Experience supporting customers with technical challenges is equally important. You'll need to be comfortable explaining technical concepts clearly, investigating problems and working with Engineering to find solutions.

You love AI-assisted development

You’re excited by tools like Cursor, Claude Code, ChatGPT and other AI coding assistants.

You enjoy using them to prototype ideas, solve problems, build working examples and explore what’s possible.

You see AI as an opportunity to make software development and integration more accessible to everyone.

You’re a natural bridge-builder

You can comfortably move between a conversation with a customer and a technical discussion with an engineering team.

You understand both perspectives, communicate clearly and enjoy bringing people together to solve problems.

You’re proactive and creative

You don’t just wait for support tickets to arrive.

You spot opportunities to improve documentation, simplify integrations, experiment with new tools and make the customer experience better.

You’re someone who asks, “How could we make this easier?”

WHAT MATTERS MOST

We’re more interested in your curiosity, communication skills, enthusiasm and ability to get things done than a particular qualification or traditional career path.

You might come from technical support, customer success, API integration, software implementation, engineering or developer relations. You could also be a self-taught builder with demonstrable experience creating integrations and using AI tools to solve real-world problems.

Whatever your background, you'll need a blend of technical ability, customer-facing communication skills and a genuine enthusiasm for helping people get the most out of technology.

What matters is that you love technology, love people and love helping people build things with technology.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • Customers can integrate with our APIs more quickly and confidently.

  • Customers and integration partners feel supported, understood and excited about our platform.

  • Our engineering teams receive clear, actionable feedback from people using our APIs.

  • Documentation, examples and integration tooling continuously improve.

  • AI-assisted development becomes a practical advantage for our customers.

  • Recurring integration problems are identified and eliminated rather than repeatedly handled through support.

  • Strong relationships develop between our customers, support team and engineering teams.

THE IDEAL PERSON ✨

You’ll be someone who can spend the morning happily talking to a customer about an integration challenge, the afternoon using AI tools to prototype a working solution, and then enthusiastically share what you’ve learned with our engineering team.

You’re part technologist, part communicator, part problem solver and entirely passionate about helping people succeed.

About SchemeServe

At its heart, SchemeServe is all about making insurance simple. Our platform helps insurance brokers, MGAs, and insurers design, build, and manage their own insurance products (or ‘schemes’) with ease. Some of our customers build their schemes themselves, while others rely on our expert Wunderwriters—which is where you come in!

We’ve always been a fully remote company, but we still love getting together. Twice a year, we meet in person for Team Retreats - one in March and another in September. These are all about sharing ideas, relaxing, and building real connections. Past retreats have featured everything from archery tag and murder mystery nights to inflatable obstacle courses and axe throwing—so expect some fun!

We’re big on personal growth and love to see our team pushing themselves to learn and develop new skills. Need books, mentoring, or professional development opportunities? We’ve got you covered.

Plus, we offer flexible working, paid days to volunteer for causes you care about, a friendly and supportive team and a relaxed but ambitious company culture.

Note for Recruiters:

We are not currently accepting applications from recruitment companies that we already have a working relationship with. You are welcome to send an email if you really want, but it will be ignored. 😊
